A classic South American journey ...
∞ Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel situated on a mountain ridge 2,430 metres above sea level, located in the Cusco Region in Peru. The site is located above the Sacred Valley, northwest of Cuzco through which the Urubamba River flows.
∞ Go on trekking in the Colca Canyon, a canyon of the Colca River in southern Peru. It is Peru’s third most-visited tourist destination. With a depth of 3,270m, it is one of the deepest in the world
∞ Next start flying over the mystical Nazca Lines and visiting the floating islands in Lake Titicaca.
Titicaca is a large, deep lake in the Andes on the border of Peru and Bolivia. By volume of water, it is the largest lake in South America. Here you can continue by boat across to Bolivia.
∞ Visit the Uros which are a people who live on forty-two self-fashioned floating islands in Lake Titicaca. Then board a ship to Isla del Sol, an island in Lake Titicaca. In the religion of the Incas, it was believed that the sun god was born here.
∞ Eventually don’t miss Sacsayhuamán, a citadel on the northern outskirts of the city of Cusco, Peru, the historic capital of the Inca Empire. The workers carefully cut the boulders to fit them together tightly without mortar.
