The early versions produced before 1967 used a split front windshield, so it was giving the nickname 'Splitty’. It was called Volksie Bus in South Africa, in Nigeria it was Danfo, in the UK known as a 'Campervan’, in France a 'camping-car’, and in Germany just ’Bulli’.
