RIVERDAWN
I wake before the sun
I sit and wait for it to join me.
On the riverbank, I wait.
The grass glistens with the fresh dew.
The songs of birds fill the air,
Replacing the chirping crickets of the night.
On the riverbank, I wait
My waiting has paid off.
A spark has lit the fire of the sky.
On the riverbank, I watch.
With time, the smoldering fire grows,
Brighter the orange and yellow flames burn.
On the horizon, a yellow orb rises into view.
